Frustrating GPS chip for EcuadornI purchased the GPS chip for Ecuador and it was frustrating, it only recognized the Airport of Guayaquil. I went to 3 cities within the country, and had to pay for a local GPS since the chip would not recognize any of the streets, places, cities, etc.

Money wasted.

Ecuador Map-Very Poor ExperiencenI had a trip to Ecuador coming up and I purchased the Ecuador GPS Map from Travel Maps. I rented a car in Quito and tried to use the map numerous times, and it would not work. Major cities, such as Banos, would not even show up on the map. When typing in an address, the map would not recognize it. When trying to type in coordinates, the map would not recognize it. This is by far the worst map product I have ever used. I am extremely disappointed as I have wasted $45.

Helpfull but far from perfectnSometimes wrong suggestions or suggestions through villages while there is a better and faster way.

Street of our (small) hotel in Guayaquil was not on the map, also no streets in the neighborhoud of the hotel.

We used the garmin map together with downloads of Maps.me on smartphone. Advantage of garmin is that you can see the curvings of the road on the screen.

SD card sizesnHave not used map yet....please remind users that mini SD card resides "inside" regular SD card.

Prevents some panic and questions when product arrives and it won't fit into GPS slot.

Thanks,

jts

Ecuador MapnJust got back from a 14 day driving tour of Ecuador. First off I wouldn't want to try it with out it. That said it will get you lost particularly in out of the way areas. It also will try to get you to go the wrong way on one way streets in the cities. Get as good paper maps as you can too back it up.

Useful, but not very good.nThe maps are useful and accurate, but the navigation is frequently incorrect in the cities of Ecuador. Especially in Guayaquil, I often found myself being led down roads that did not exist or were one-way. Typically, I found it easier to use the map view and navigate myself. My GPS is a Garmin Nuvi.

GPS map fof EcuadornI just purchased the software in preparation for a three week visit to Cuenca, Ecuador. The download instructions were not intuitive and took me several attempts to download the files. Further, the install instructions were a bit complicated and I'm not sure that I was completely successful in getting the software installed on my Garmin so I will have to wait until I am in Cuenca to see if the software actually works satisfactorily.
